As the town aims to be "the city of the future," the IT Department has centered its strategy on five key areas: improving customer experience, leveraging strategic partnerships, utilizing data for decision-making, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring robust cybersecurity.

 

The department has made significant strides in cloud architecture by migrating 75% of its operations to platforms like Microsoft Azure and AWS, which has enhanced the reliability and availability of essential services. Embracing artificial intelligence, Gilbert has appointed a Chief AI Officer and set up an AI committee to guide the responsible use of AI technology, aiming to improve efficiency and service delivery. Additionally, the town has adopted Adobe Acrobat Sign for electronic signatures and Adobe Express for content creation, streamlining document management and communication processes.

 

In terms of cybersecurity, the IT Department has fortified its defenses by outsourcing cyber management to Dell Secureworks and implementing enhanced protections for smart-city IoT devices. This proactive approach to security ensures the safeguarding of citizen data and system integrity.

 

These technological advancements have greatly benefited Gilbert’s residents by increasing the accessibility and convenience of services, with digital solutions available around the clock on any device. The Police Department’s cloud-based systems have improved data management and communication, enhancing public safety. Furthermore, the town’s data management tools offer real-time insights and transparency, contributing to informed decision-making. The department's efforts have resulted in a high level of customer satisfaction, with 98% of residents reporting positive experiences with digital services. Overall, Gilbert’s IT Department has effectively leveraged technology to enhance public service delivery and position the town as a leader in digital innovation.
